Spring Awakening (Get In/Out)

Below is a timelapse video of the Spring Awakening get in process.

Still being part of studio A group I worked on the Spring Awakening get in, most of the work I did was lx due to my role in the group still being a lighting operator even if not for that show. I did also help with the stage build putting up the bigger end platforms and any other small jobs that needed doing.

I started off by stripping all the lighting trusses and preping the lights we needed, we also reconstructed all the truss looms to ensure we had the cables we needed. We also had an extra truss (truss 6) that was put up on chain hoists.

I gave myself the responsibility of sorting out the hardware patch, soca and hot power for the trusses and running the additional loom for truss 6 with assistance from Isaac in the genie. Due to some of the dimmers being broken we were limited on hot power in the grid which meant that I had to identify and patch the correct 16a lines to ensure we had power where required. I managed to do this with previous experience of the venue and also process of elimination.

I then also assisted with rigging the new lights following directions from the lx plan and the lx designer. We had to be sure to cover the areas we needed but also balance the load on the trusses so they didn’t become unsafe.

I carried out multiple safety checks on the trusses and rigged lights to ensure they were secured correctly and the safety line was attached before being flown.

Although at this point of time I didn’t have my IPAF I was still involved in the focus process, guiding the genie operators from the ground and identifying dark spots.

As I have mentioned in other areas, I had a hand in creating the original spring show file along with ben the lx operator for that show, we worked to patch the room and design some initial pallets.

Scandal Town

Also being in group B I was roped in to doing some bits with scandal town, I filled in for flora one day during tech as stage crew which just involved me carrying props and paging curtains, I was also around for technical support as this show was also using my installed sound system.

I later also did the Scandal town into Pavilion get out which involved me changing set staging and flats.
